Education and Therapy
Beach Conservation Project
Our primary goal is to promote community support in Dominican Republic, Haiti, and the Bahamas to increase awareness regarding marine life and the ecosystem.
Essential to our goals is to create a Conservation Response Team (CRT). This team will conduct patrols and record evidence involving illegal poaching and/or trade of endangered marine life. They will also observe the human impact on the ecosystem.
It is also crucial to involve the local community in educational programs, sports, art, music, and activities involving sustainable trade items. We are to serve as a tool for gaining local community interest during awareness events, motivating them in regard to conservation. Such programs include our Conservation Through Surfing Program.
Education is an essential aspect to understanding all aspects of the relation that exits between humans, companion animals, wildlife and the habitat.
VCHS works together with schools, orphanages and through community outreach activities to provide educational programs.

There is increasing evidence that the emotional and psychological benefits of pet companionship have physiological counterparts as well -- that pets improve not only the intangible "quality of life" but also improve human health. Research has demonstrated that petting and caring for animals - particularly those with whom a bonded-relationship has been established - can reduce blood pressure and heart rate and also improve survival rates from heart disease.
